Bitumen Modified Products

Bitumen modified products are construction materials that have been enhanced with the addition of bitumen, a black, sticky, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. The modified products include bitumen membranes for waterproofing and roofing, bitumen emulsions for road construction, bitumen-based coatings and sealants for protection against corrosion and weathering, and bitumen-based paving materials for durability and long-lasting performance. The product range includes Polymer Modified Bitumen, Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen, Penetration Grade Modified Bitumen, Mastic Bitumen and Blown Bitumen

Mastic Bitumen

Mastic Bitumen is a type of asphalt that consists of graded mineral and asphaltic cement in a consistent solid or semi-solid form. It becomes fluid when heated and solidifies when cooled. It is commonly used in construction for floors, foundations, tanks, and acid-resistant brick lining to protect structures from corrosive attacks by weak acids, diluted alkalis, and salts. Additionally, it can be used as heavy-duty flooring in open mastic applications.

Applications

Blown Bitumen

Blown bitumen, also known as oxidized bitumen, is produced by blowing air through heated bitumen. This process changes the physical properties of the bitumen, increasing its softening point, stiffness, and viscosity. Blown bitumen is commonly used in waterproofing, roofing, and pavement applications. It is also used in the manufacturing of paints, varnishes, and electrical products. Blown bitumen is available in different grades, ranging from hard and brittle to soft and flexible, and is classified based on its softening point and penetration value.

Applications

Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB)

Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) is a type of bitumen that has been modified by the addition of polymer materials. The polymer addition enhances the properties of bitumen, making it more durable, resistant to deformation, and suitable for use in a wide range of applications. PMB is commonly used in road construction and repair, waterproofing, roofing, and industrial flooring. The modification process can involve adding different types of polymers, including styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS), styrene-acrylic (SA), and ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA), to tailor the properties of the resulting PMB to meet specific application requirements.

Applications

Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen

CRMB is a product that enhances asphalt by modifying it with crumb rubber and natural asphalt, as well as Bismides chemicals. Natural asphalt contains high levels of asphaltene and nitrogen, which increase the asphalt’s viscosity, raise its softening point, and reduce its penetration. The chemically treated crumb rubber and Bismides are designed to quickly blend with the asphalt, providing additional binding strength, elasticity, and softening point. The rubber’s carbon content acts as an anti-oxidant, preventing the asphalt from aging and oxidizing due to exposure to sunlight.

Applications

Penetration Grade Bitumen

Penetration grade bitumen is a type of bitumen that is commonly used in road construction, waterproofing, and roofing applications. It is produced through the refining of crude oil and is characterized by its penetration value, which measures its hardness or softness. The higher the penetration value, the softer the bitumen. Penetration grade bitumen is classified according to its penetration value at 25°C, ranging from hard grades, such as 85/100, to softer grades, such as 160/220. Its properties include excellent waterproofing, high adhesion, and resistance to deformation.
